The short version. We use a small number of cookies and similar technologies. Those that keep the site working and secure are always on. Everything else — remembering your preferences and recording how the site is used — only happens if you say yes, and you can change your answer at any time with the Cookie settings link in the footer of every page. We do not run advertising or tracking cookies.
01 What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website places on your device when you visit. “Similar technologies” — local storage and session storage in your browser — do the same job, so in this policy we say “cookies” to cover all of them. Some are needed for a site to function; others remember choices you made or tell the site owner how the site is being used.
Cookies set by us are first-party cookies. Cookies set by another organisation are third-party cookies. Our own storage is all first-party. The one third-party cookie is Google reCAPTCHA's, used only to tell people from bots when you use a form (see the table and section 05).
02 The categories we use
- Strictly necessary — essential for the site to work and stay secure: remembering your cookie choices, slowing down spam in forms, and keeping the loading animation from replaying on every page. These are always on and do not need consent.
- Functional — remember something you chose so you are not asked twice, for example that you already subscribed to our newsletter. Off until you accept.
- Analytics and performance — help us understand how the site is used and which pages and buttons lead to enquiries. Off until you accept.
- Marketing and targeting — used to show relevant advertising. We do not use any. The switch exists so that if this ever changes, nothing loads without your opt-in.
03 Every cookie and storage item we use
This table is complete at the date above. Nothing in it is shared with advertisers or data brokers.
Strictly necessary
| Name | Type | Duration | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
aviox_consent | First-party cookie | 12 months | Stores your cookie choices (an anonymous random ID and which categories you allowed), so we do not ask on every page. |
aviox_rl_* | Local storage | Until cleared | Counts your recent form attempts in your own browser so repeated or automated submissions can be slowed down. |
aviox-intro | Session storage | Until you close the tab | A yes/no flag so the loading animation does not replay on every page. Holds no identifier. |
_GRECAPTCHA | Third-party cookie (Google) | 6 months | Set by Google reCAPTCHA v3 to tell people from automated bots when you use a form, newsletter box or the staff sign-in. Loaded only once you start using a form. |
rc::a, rc::c | Session / local storage (Google) | Until cleared | Used by Google reCAPTCHA for the same spam-protection purpose. |
Functional needs your consent
| Name | Type | Duration | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
aviox_newsletter_ok | Local storage | Until cleared | Remembers that you subscribed, so article pages do not ask you again. |
Analytics and performance needs your consent
| Name | Type | Duration | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
aviox_vid | First-party cookie | 13 months | A random anonymous ID that recognises a returning browser, so we can tell new from returning visitors. It contains no name, email or other personal information. |
aviox_sid | First-party cookie | 30 minutes of inactivity | A random ID that groups the pages you view and the buttons you click into one visit. A new one starts after 30 quiet minutes. |
aviox_sess | Session storage | Until you close the tab | Your first page, where you came from, any campaign tags in the link, and how many pages you viewed in this visit. Attached to an enquiry if you send one. |
aviox_cta | Session storage | Until you close the tab | Which button or link led you to a contact form. |
Visit log | Record on our server | 13 months | Not a cookie: see section 04. |
Marketing and targeting
None. We do not set or allow advertising, retargeting or cross-site tracking cookies.
04 What we record when you visit
Whether or not you accept cookies, our server counts a page view. What it keeps depends on your choice:
- Before you choose, or if you decline analytics: the page, where you came from, your device type and browser, and the country your connection appears to be in. Your IP address and network are not stored with the visit, and no cookie is set.
- If you accept analytics: we also keep your IP address and the internet provider or network it belongs to, so we can see who is using the site and from where. We use an offline database on our own server for the country and network lookup; your address is not sent to any third party.
- Also if you accept analytics — how you use the site. We record the pages you view and how long you stay, how far you scroll, which sections you see, which buttons and links you click (for example “Request a Quote” or “Book a Demo”), whether you view, start, or submit a form (and the names of fields that failed validation), links to other websites you follow, files you download and videos you play. We also keep where you came from (search engine, social network, another website, or a campaign link) and the device, browser and screen size you use. These records are tied only to the random visitor and visit IDs above.
- What we never record: anything you type into a form (names, emails, phone numbers, messages), passwords, or payment details. The enquiry you choose to send is stored separately, as the Privacy Policy explains; if you sent it after accepting analytics, we link it to the pages you visited so we can see which content led to the enquiry.
- When you send a form: we keep your IP address, browser details and the page you sent it from with the enquiry, for security and so we can reply. That is described in our Privacy Policy.
Each time you save a cookie choice we also keep a consent record: the time, the random ID in your consent cookie, what you chose, your IP address and browser, and the page you were on. We keep it as proof that we asked and what you answered.
05 Other organisations your browser contacts
We do not embed advertising, social or analytics tags. To display the site your browser does request files from:
- Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com, fonts.gstatic.com) — typefaces.
- jsDelivr (cdn.jsdelivr.net) — open-source layout and animation code.
- Google reCAPTCHA (google.com, gstatic.com) — invisible spam and bot protection on our forms. It loads only when you start using a form. Google receives your IP address, browser details and how you interact with the page to decide whether you are a person; its Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply. This is a security measure, so it is classed as strictly necessary.
As with any file request, those providers can see your IP address and browser. We do not control those requests; see their own policies for what they do with that technical data. Only Google reCAPTCHA sets a cookie (listed in the table above).
Links to other sites (our products, partners, LinkedIn and so on) leave this site. Their cookies are covered by their own policies.
06 Managing and withdrawing your choices
- Here, at any time. Use Cookie settings in the footer of any page, or the button below, to change your choice. Switching a category off removes what it stored in your browser. Switching analytics off also erases the analytics records we hold under your visitor ID and stops any more being collected.
- In your browser. You can block or delete cookies and site data in your browser settings. The site still works; you will simply be asked about cookies again.
07 How long we keep this information
- Cookies and browser storage last as shown in the table above.
- Visit, outbound-click and analytics records (page views, events, visits, conversions), including IP address and network where you allowed analytics: 13 months, then deleted automatically.
- Cookie-consent records: 36 months after the choice, then deleted automatically.
- Enquiries you send us are kept as set out in the Privacy Policy.
08 Changes to this policy
If we add a new cookie or change what an existing one does, we will update the table and the date at the top of this page, and ask for your choice again where the law requires it.
